Kinect Party @ Jackson School

Kinect Party has landed!

WOW! What an incredible educational tool.
The guys and gals over at Double Fine have outdone themselves with Kinect Party aka Happy Action Theater 2. The new activities and amazing integration of augmented reality are simply incredible. Not only has the variety of activities been extended greatly but the graphical improvements and use of voice-command have to be seen to be believed!

Check out Emily Ford's blog on Kinect Party and its uses with students with autism.

Movement in ICT

Here at Jackson School we firmly believe that exercising the mind and body are of equal importance.
Part of our ICT program and development of spatial and sensory awareness comes from the use of the XBOX 360 Kinect.

For those who are unfamiliar, the XBOX Kinect is a motion sensor that tracks your body movement and voice in order to interact with a game or activity. We have found that kids and teachers of all ages love interacting with the XBOX Kinect in a variety of contexts.

Jackson kids having a blast on Happy Action Theater!

"There’s no lack of evidence of the link between physical activity and healthy brain function. Sometimes we get to swim in lava (or float down the stream on a Swiss ball) and sometimes we throw our arms up in an effort to shoot at aliens."
