Call for Expressions of Interest

Jackson School has been nominated to be part of the Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Demonstration Pilot Program.

Dear Parents and Carers,

OSHC for children with disabilities was raised as an important issue by parents at the Premier’s Roundtables in August 2017. Victorian Parents reported difficulties accessing appropriate OSHC services for their children, with a particular focus on after school care and school holiday programs. The opportunity to be part of this pilot brings a wide range of benefits to our students, our school community, including boosting academic performance, promoting physical and mental health, and providing a safe, structured environment for the children of working parents.

While our school has an existing OSHC and school holiday program supporting families of Laurimar and neighbouring schools, this new program will provide additional resources and support to ensure our services are more inclusive and support students with additional needs.

From Term 3 and 4, 2018 the Jackson School OSHC service will be our existing service to better support students with disabilities. There will be no cost to families for the pilot program.

Because it is a pilot program, it will be formally evaluated by an external evaluator and the learnings shared with the Commonwealth Government who are responsible for funding OSHC services. There is no expectation, at this time, the additional resources will extend beyond the pilot into 2020.

To assist with planning for the Term 3 and 4 pilot, our OSHC service requires an expression of interest and indication of need from our community for this extended service. To indicate your interest, including your preference for after school care, school holiday program or both, please ring Halina O’Neill on 9366 4322.

Kind Regards,

Joan O’Connor-Cox
